Mike Haws

Executive Committee

Mike was first introduced to USARA in 2012 at the beginning of his recovery journey. He was led to Mary Jo and USARA by “the nudge from the judge” to complete 80 hours of community service. After completing his hours, he stayed involved as a recovery coach, then completed the peer support training and went to work as a case manager with Davis Behavioral Health.

Since having his last drink on July 26, 2012, Mike has been involved in recovery days, peer support training, and anything USARA does to strengthen the recovery community. It all came full circle when Mary Jo asked Mike to serve as a board member because he was excited for the opportunity to give back to the organization that inspired him to do the work I am doing today.

Michael is currently the Executive Director for Red Barn Academy, a non-profit therapeutic community in Farmington, Utah. He is married to his best friend, Tawni, and they have a beautiful boy named Maverick. When Michael is not teaching and training students at Red Barn Farms you will find him with his family or the yoga studio. As a person in recovery, it is important for him to model self-care.
